Makeover reality shows have been premiering on television screens for years, bringing viewers entertainment with programs like “The Biggest Loser,” “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” and “What Not to Wear.” Another option to add to the list is the Cooking Channel’s “Belly Up!,” a reality show specializing in restaurant renovations. Host Eddie Russell makes his way across America looking to revamp bars and pubs—and now, Chattanooga’s Pickle Barrel is one venue soon to be featured.
The Pickle Barrel, long one of downtown Chattanooga’s favorite and most popular local hangouts, has always been a busy bar joint. A variety of tourists and natives frequent the unique spot to enjoy friendly service, a comfortable setting and a full menu of all-American eats. With all of the great features this location has to offer, it seems as though “Belly Up!” is only improving an already successful eatery.
While most of the Pickle Barrel’s renovation details have been kept secret for the upcoming (and currently unannounced) episode premiere, the spot has now reopened after being shut down for several days during filming. Frequent customers are sure to notice the brand-new sign adorning the eye-catching corner building. Sticking to its tried-and-true charm, revered fried pickles, and sure to add some newcomers to the already long line of regulars, the Pickle Barrel is back and better than ever.
