Jail Hanging Lawsuit Settled For $180,000

The parents of a man who hanged himself at the Hamilton County Jail have reached a settlement with the county. Joel Viggers was found dead inside his cell back in January of 2008.

This family filed suit, alleging wrongful death because of the fact that the jail is not equipped to deal adequately with mentally ill prisoners.

The County Commission yesterday agreed to settle the lawsuit for $180,000.
