Since she was a little girl, Denise has always wanted to be on the radio. Her first experience in front of a microphone was a small cassette recorder she got as a Christmas present. Not content to simply “sing” into the microphone, Denise would go around the house conducting interviews and play them back.

Remembering how much she loved the Chattanooga area, she moved here right after High School graduation to attend the University of Tennessee Chattanooga in the late 1980s and never left.

After earning a degree in Broadcast Journalism from Chattanooga State, Denise has spent the last sixteen years in the radio field. She’s been a radio personality on a wide range of formats from Alternative Rock to Easy Listening. She has also served as Music director for three Adult Contemporary stations, Program Director, Operations Manager and even Chief Engineer during her tenure in Music radio. Outside of music radio Denise has experience as a traffic reporter, news writer and news anchor and is Louis Lee’s co- anchor delivering news weekdays from 5:30am-9 and during the noon news hour.

Chattanooga’s newest news/talk radio outlet today announced the addition of veteran Chattanooga personality Dale Deason to its airstaff. Deason will anchor the station’s fast moving morning news block weekdays from 5 a.m. till 9 a.m.

No stranger to the Chattanooga morning radio audience, Deason is probably best known for his work with Garry Mac as “Those Guys In The Morning,” which aired on WGOW-AM from 1982 through 1986. Over the course of the past two decades, Deason has also hosted morning shows on LITE MIX 105, GT108, and was the original anchor of TalkFM’s ‘Morning Press’.

A native of Centerville, Georgia, Deason majored in communications at West Georgia University, and worked briefly at Z-93 in Atlanta before coming to Chattanooga. His advertising agency, Deasonworks Advertising, LLC, provides clients across the southeast with radio, television, and outdoor services.

Dale, wife Carol, and a menagerie of dogs and cats reside on a small farm in rural McDonald, Tennessee.

News Editor, The Pulse

22-year radio veteran Gary Poole is a familiar voice to Chattanooga radio listeners, having worked for several of the highest rated stations in town over the past thirteen years. As News Editor of The Pulse alternative weekly newspaper, he has been involved in covering a wide variety of stories ranging from local politics to cultural events to interviewing some of the most influential local and national personalities.

You’ll also hear him on 95.3 Pulse News every weekday afternoon and evening anchoring the news as well as reporting on sports and hosting of the daily “Capitol Hill Report” with WPLZ’s Washington D.C. Bureau.

Gary’s roots in Chattanooga date far back. His great-grandfather was born here, and several previous generations called this area home, working as farmers and laborers. He has ancestors that fought on both sides of the Civil War, which makes for some interesting debates at family reunions, and can trace his ancestry in this country to the late 1600’s.

While he’s well known for his work as a radio personality, Gary also has long-standing credentials as a journalist. Starting from his days with his high school newspaper through stints writing for various newsweeklies in Florida and Georgia, he has been putting pen to paper (and later keyboard strokes to a laptop) for nearly thirty years.

When asked what character trait would best describe him, he says it is his insatiable curiosity to learn as much as he can about everything. He reads vociferously, sometimes seems to live online, and is often spotted at the many local events, festivals, concerts and civic gatherings. A self-described “news junkie” his main passions are politics, popular entertainment and the daily doings of government.

Louis Lee, WPLZ’s News Director, is a fixture in news here in the Tennessee Valley. Starting with his high school newspaper, he has more than 30 years as a journalist.

Louis was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is a U.S. Navy Cold War veteran, having served in the Atlantic Fleet aboard a Fast Frigate, keeping an eye (ear) on Russian submarines. After the Navy, Louis worked for a weekly newspaper in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Wanting to branch out from print media, he returned to college to get his degree in Broadcast Journalism.

Serving as Chief Photojournalist for KVHP-TV in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Louis honed his broadcast writing skills as well as his on-air delivery. Covering the state legislature, military and environmental issues, he also became an accomplished investigative reporter.

Having arrived in Chattanooga in 1991, he worked as a one-person bureau for WDEF- TV covering an 11 county area for more than a decade. He left Channel 12 to start his own online newspaper, ClevelandNewsNow.net, which was very successful in bringing multi-media content to the small community. After a brief move to Florida, Louis returned to the Valley, working for WRCB-TV in their news department.

Louis has attended the National Press Photographer’s Association News Video Workshop, and has been a member of the IRE – Investigative Reporters and Editors organization. He is an AP award-winner and has been recognized for journalistic excellence by numerous groups, including the Georgia State Legislature, Vietnam Veterans of America and the NAACP.

Logan Carmichael is a native from the thriving metropolis of Whitwell, TN who began his radio career at 11 years old, when he started broadcasting from a studio he put together in an extra bedroom at his house. His whopping 1-watt signal reached out across the most of the Whitwell area and into parts of neighboring towns. He began his full-time professional radio career at WEPG-AM in South Pittsburg, Tennessee, where he hosted various shows including everybody’s favorite…Swap & Shop! For a brief time he even did news and weather on WEPG-TV!

Logan’s worked in just about all the musical genres from Classic Rock to Alternative, Country to Southern Gospel radio, and he’s served in every capacity including Program Director, Operations Manager, and even the station Engineer before moving. Logan has been with Brewer Broadcasting since 2006.

Logan now lives in the heart of Downtown Chattanooga with his dog Gypsy and cats Noah and Coco. He’s also constantly in the process of rebuilding and improving his 120 year old house. His hobbies include most anything in the music world…from concert-going to concert promoting. Logan is a licensed Amateur (Ham) Radio operator with the call-sign W4QXL and is an active SkyWarn storm spotter, and is active in the local Red Cross.

Also in his free time, Logan enjoys classic cars, model railroading and trains, and most anything involving Southern History and the History of our Nation’s heritage. Oh yeah, and to break the geekdom and boredom…the ever-so-popular game of Guitar Hero or Rock Band! You should also know that his blood BLEEDS ‘BIG ORANGE’ for Tennessee Volunteer football!
