    The Golden Apple of Eris

Covered in rich red velvet, and guarded by a buxom nude mannequin, the practice space I am sitting in has a very regal feel to it. Within a few moments I realized that it might not be the velvet that gave it that feeling. As I listened to the first two songs, my friends’ faces melted away into ridiculously tight musicians, quite possibly magicians.

The music filled and shook the room with such a fluidity it was hard to believe it had not been made before; that it wasn’t a cover of a classic everyone knows, or should know. Sometimes, it just feels like music needs to be made, and was waiting for the right muse to flow through. Good job, music. You found your medium, and its name is Eris.

Maybe that crazy Greek goddess lent a hand in the mix, evoked by a tribute of guitar-soaked praise. Maybe the controversial dwarf planet with the same name spins extra hard providing the perfect alignment for expert guitar riffs. Maybe it’s physics.

Whatever the reason, this band is good, intensely good.
