Attemped Bank Robbery In South Pittsburg

    Written by Jeremy Lawrence
    July 2, 2009 – 10:24 am

He attempted to hold up a bank in South Pittsburg. So say police of John Floyd Thomas, who now faces federal charges in the incident where he threatened the teller at a drive-up window with what he said was a bomb.

He passed his driver’s license along with a note with the threat on it.  The teller left the window and he drove off.

When police caught up to Thomas, he had a sawed off shotgun and admitted to the attempt.

Thomas has a felony record and police say he shouldn’t have had a gun.
