City Council Approves First Reading On Budget

    Written by Gary Poole
    September 16, 2009 – 4:14 pm

The Chattanooga City Council voted to approve the new $167 million dollar budget at last night’s meeting. But, not all council members are happy with it, with two members voting against the measure.

Peter Murphy and Deborah Scott both voted against approval of the new budget, with Scott expressing concerns over how several of the city agency budgets were dealt with during the budget process.

The council will meet again next Tuesday at two in the afternoon to hash out the remaining differences in the budget before making a FINAL vote at that evening’s regular meeting.
