Chattanooga Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred just after 12 this morning at 2001 South Lyerly Street . Police were called on a report of an attempted kidnapping but once on scene found evidence of a shooting.
Tony Whitener told police that he was playing video games with a neighbor when he heard noise coming from his apartment. When he went out to investigate, he was met by three masked and armed men who shot at him. Whitener was able to run back to his neighbor’s apartment and avoid being hit.
The suspects were described as three black males wearing ski masks that fled the scene in an unknown direction of travel. Police located duct tape, wire and a pillow case near the apartments which is consistent with the information received from the caller of an attempted kidnapping.
There are currently no other leads in the case but investigators are still waiting to examine the evidence collected.
