Georgia Republicans Jockying To Replace Deal

    Written by Jeremy Lawrence
    May 28, 2009 – 12:50 pm

Republicans in Georgia are forming a line to replace a congressman.  Nathan Deal has expressed his interest in running for Governor there, so his seat will be open, leaving several North Georgians looking at his seat.

Bill Stephens, the former state Senate majority leader has declared his intent to run for the seat, joining former state rep Mike Evans and state rep Tom Graves.

Deal won the seat back in 1992 as a Democrat and switched parties in the middle of a second term.
