Jury Begins Deliberation In Parker Murder Trial

It was time for closing arguments Monday in the murder trial of former Lafayette police sergeant Sam Parker, who stands accused of murdering and then disposing of the body of his estranged wife Theresa Parker.
Prosecutor Leigh Patterson told the jury that the state believes that Parker killed his wife around one o’clock on the morning of March 22nd, 2007 then hid her body a few hours later after visiting a female friend to help establish an alibi.
He contends that Parker killed his wife because he suspected she was having an affair and was planning on leaving him.
Parker’s attorney, David Dunn, however, told the jury that the state had no proof that he had killed his wife.
He contends the only reason the trial has lasted as long as it has is that the bulk of the evidence was “TTMSLB” … Trash That Makes Sam Look Bad.
Dunn also accused investigators of ignoring former Walker County deputy Shane Green, who he claims had a “thing” going on with Theresa Parker, and that the investiogators zeroed in on Sam Parker without bothering to follow up other leads in the case.
The jury is now deliberating all the evidence and testimony from the two-week trial.
