Maynor Pleads Guilty On Fake Cancer Claims

    March 9, 2010 – 1:14 pm

A woman who lied about having cancer has pleaded guilty in court. Keele Maynor Payne told a judge this morning she was guilty of all nine counts brought against her.

Payne told co-workers at the City of Chattanooga that she had cancer, and often needed to call in sick for treatments.

Co-workers donated some of their days off to make sure Payne didn’t run out.

Payne also lied to local Cancer charities, receiving money and services under false pretenses.

In all, tens of thousands of dollars were involved.

Payne could face up to six years in prison when she’s sentenced May 17th.
