More Battery Charges For Former Deputy

    Written by Pulse Staff
    July 17, 2009 – 9:29 am

Additional charges have been filed on former Deputy James Spates that stem from the initial investigation that began in December 2008.  The prior investigation involved allegations of impropriety and policy violations, with the results presented to the Hamilton County Grand Jury on January 12, 2009.

New evidence was presented to the Hamilton County Grand Jury on July 13, 2009 and indictments were returned on the additional charges of two counts of Sexual Battery by an Authority Figure and two counts of Official Misconduct.

The new charges are allegations that have been investigated by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and alleged to have occurred in October 2008,  when Spates was still employed as a patrol officer.
