A nine-year-old girl was struck by a car just before 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening after the child attempted to run across the street. According to police reports, the child was outside playing in the 4200 block of 12th Avenue when she apparently ran out into the street behind an SUV. At the same time another vehicle was traveling behind the SUV and struck the child.

The girl was transported to a local hospital in stable condition but is believed to have suffered a broken leg.

The suspect vehicle, described as a gold-colored sedan, fled the scene following the incident. Charges are pending further investigation for leaving the scene of an accident.
