Upon their arrival, officers talked with victim William Arthur Smith, 21, of Chattanooga who stated he and friends were eating when a young black male who the victim stated he did not know came to their table and started an argument.

The argument spilled over into the parking lot which turned into a fight.  Smith was struck by an unknown object in the back of the head causing a minor laceration.

According to Smith and other witnesses the suspect the produced a handgun and fired four shots wildly.
