Statewide Building Code Enacted In Tennessee
Written by Jeremy LawrenceJune 29, 2009 – 5:44 pm
A standard building code is finally enacted in Tennessee. After several delays, Governor Bredesen put pen to paper and signed the measure that he pushed hard for.
Under the law, which takes effect this week, local governments that don’t have building codes would have to use this minimum code unless they voted against it with a supermajority.
The law also requires increased energy efficiency in state buildings and vehicles.
There are also tax breaks for those that create “green jobs” in the state.
