Tractor Trailer Crash Ties Up I-24 On Sunday

    Written by Pulse Staff
    February 28, 2010 – 9:59 pm

A single vehicle crash on Interstate 24 left traffic at a near crawl Sunday afternoon after a tractor trailer traveling East lost control, broke through the guardrail and landed in the Westbound lane.

The incident occurred around 1:30 PM as the driver of the tractor, 38-year-old Alex Brailey of Elberton, GA, was trying to negotiate the curve near the Moccasin Bend area.

Both Brailey and his passenger were taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Charges are expected against Brailey but are pending further investigation.

Traffic in both directions of I-24 reopened at 6:15 PM following cleanup of the wreckage and spilled fuel.

    1. J Nesbitt says:

Many motorists were delayed for 2 hours or more due to the ineptitude of the local police, There was no coodination among law enforcement to help the people that were made to exit the interstate. What were they thinking? How about sone police to direct traffic for a few hours to get people through downtown Chattanooga until the interstate was reopened? Our taxes at work!!!

    2. M J Ditzer says:

I agree 100 percent with J Nesbitt. Whichever agency was responsible for traffic control Sunday — Chattanooga city police, state police, the Cub Scouts — bungled it horribly. Enjoy your donuts this morning, pigs.
