Spontaneous applause and acts of gratitude erupted on the parking lot of the Gunbarrel Wal-Mart earlier this morning when police apprehended three juveniles suspected of auto burglaries around Hamilton Place Mall. Field Training Officer Brian Wood was working secondary employment at the mall when he was alerted to three suspicious men near the Dillard’s Department Store entrance.

FTO Wood observed them leave the mall and followed them to the Wal-Mart parking lot where he conducted a traffic stop. When he approached the suspect vehicle, he noticed what appeared to be a gun in the center console. While trying to remove one of the suspects from the vehicle, the suspect began to fight FTO Wood and was tasered. The suspect was not injured as a result.

Inside the vehicle, police recovered several suspected stolen items including cell phones, GPS units, and prescription medication.  A .22 caliber pistol was also recovered from the suspect that was tasered. The three suspects are two white males and one Hispanic male juvenile and are currently being questioned about the auto burglaries. Charges are pending further investigation.
