UTC Library Funding At Risk, Ramsey Warns

    Written by Gary Poole
    June 11, 2009 – 10:42 am

utc-libraryHamilton County Mayor Claude Ramsey informed a surprised County Commission this morning that the expected $40 million funding to expand and improve the UTC Library has been pulled.

The expansion, which has been in the planning stages for several years and was considered a top priority for the university, may be falling victim to the economic recession and a sharp drop in state revenue.

Commissioners and other political leaders are expected to fight hard to get the library funding restored, fearing that if it is pulled now it may be a very long before it comes up again in the legislature.
