    Written by Gary Poole
    August 28, 2009 – 4:05 pm

Project Construction Manager, Thilo Brockhaus, speaks to reporters with the Paint Shop rising in the background.

The planned Volkswagen assembly building currently under construction at Enterprise South is going to get evern bigger than originally planned.  Volkswagen officials said today that the company would be adding an additional 43,000 square feet to the buidling.

Frank Fischer, who heads up VW’s Chattanooga operations, said the change was to give the new plant flexibility if the company decides they want to build more than the 150,000 vehicles per year that are initially planned.

Contruction remains on schedule, with the plant set to open in early 2011.
