Chattanooga Doctor Looks For Sentence Reduction

    Written by Lysa Greer
    June 1, 2009 – 9:33 am

child_pornA Chattanooga doctor who pled guilty to possessing child pornography is trying to get a reduction in his 135-month prison term. A host of letters in support of Dr. McElhaney, along with awards and citations he had received during his medical career, were supplied in court by his attorney.

However, Prosecutor John MacCoon said this request should be denied. Dr. McElhaney had over 600 child porn images and had downloaded others, while purchasing a subscription to a notorious child porn website – all while he was on pre-trial release.

Prosecutor MacCoon said the court’s original sentence is more than fair and should be re-imposed upon resentencing
