    Written by Police Blotter
    July 17, 2009 – 2:35 pm

hit-runChattanooga Police are requesting help in solving two hit and run accidents with injuries in the last week.  The first hit and run accident occurred Thursday night around 7:00 p.m. at 4200 12th Ave.  According to witnesses a 9 year old female was crossing the street and a small gold colored car, (possibly a Dodge Neon) and struck the child.

The vehicle then fled, a witness gave chase to the suspect hit and run vehicle, however he lost sight of it as it crossed over into Rossville GA. The suspect is possibly a White male age 30-40.  The hit and run vehicle may have minor front end damage to the bumper and hood.

The 9 year old female sustained a broken leg and other injuries; she is stable condition at TC Thompson’s Hospital.

The second hit and run accident occurred on July 12th, around 10:30 p.m.  This hit and run involved a cream colored mid 90’s model Lexus that struck a 26 year old female near the rail road tracks at Noah Reid Rd. (between Bonny Oaks and Shallowford Rd).

The victim of this hit run was taken to Erlanger where the incident was thought to be an assault, but after talking with the victim it was determined to be a hit and run traffic accident.

The suspect vehicle should have front end damage, damage to the hood, and a damaged windshield. There is no description on the driver.

The victim is at Erlanger with serious injuries.

Anyone have any information on either of these hit and run accidents are asked to call the Chattanooga Police Department at (423) 698-2525.
