    Fixin’ Potholes The Colonel’s Way

    Written by Richard Beeland
    April 29, 2009 – 7:47 pm

The City of Chattanooga is one of only four cities nationwide to receive a $3,000.00 donation as a result of the “Re-Freshed by KFC” marketing campaign. Approximately 500 potholes will be repaired locally as a result of the initiative. Other cities receiving funding were Warren, Ohio, Louisville, Kentucky, and Topeka, Kansas.

KFC launched the program in March as part of a marketing campaign designed as a pilot infrastructure renewal program. “This program is a perfect example of that rare and optimal occurrence when a company can creatively market itself and help local governments and everyday Americans across the country,” said Javier Benito, executive vice president of marketing and food innovation for KFC.

“Everyone could use a little help during these tough economic times and this initiative – like our commitment to provide affordable, freshly prepared chicken – is our way of carrying on Colonel Sanders’ legacy,” Benito explained.

The Department of Public Works will be repairing potholes on Wednesday, April 27 between 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Camden Street at Wheeler Drive, Camden Street at Arlington Avenue, Duncan Avenue and Orchard Knob, and South Highland Park at Kirby Avenue. The Department of Public Works will be repairing more potholes at other locations throughout the week.

    1. Andrew Lohr says:

If it only costs $6 to fix a pothole ($3000 will fix 500 holes), how come there are any unfixed potholes in town?
And if PETA would settle for something like “petted by PETA,” not too controversial or distracting, go ahead and take their money too; likewise for others–”Healed by XYZ Church”? “Pushed along by Pulse”?
