    1. If your household plants are looking a little drab, make the leaves glossy by rubbing them with a little mayonnaise and a paper towel.

    2. Rub hair conditioner on a shower curtain rod to remove any stickiness, which will allow the rings to move smoothly

    3. If you’ve lost your bathtub plug, use a golf ball as a substitute. It stays in place and rolls back if dislodged.

    4. Speed up slow-moving ketchup by inserting a plastic drinking straw into the bottle.

    5. Remove dirty or greasy fingerprints from painted walls or non-washable wallpaper by rubbing the area with a slice of white bread.

    6. To get animal hair off car seats or the sofa, run a rubber glove over the upholstery. Hair sticks to the glove and comes right off.

    7. Clean a bathroom mirror with shaving cream, then wipe with a soft cloth. It helps defog the mirror after showers.

    8. Shine small copper items by rubbing gently with a cotton swab dipped in ketchup. Rub ketchup off with a cotton cloth and they’ll gleam.

    9. Mix one quart of rubbing alcohol, one cup of water and two tablespoons of liquid dish soap to make your own windshield washer fluid.

    10. Ripen green tomatoes by storing them in a paper bag with an already ripe apple for a couple of days.

Just for those regular readers who wonder if The List ever actually comes up with useful advice, here are ten odd little tricks that can improve your home, kitchen, bathroom and car without costing you a lot of money. See. we can be helpful…at times.
