  • Brainerd Neighbors Help Break Up Burglary Ring
  • Observant neighbors in a Brainerd neighborhood helped Chattanooga Police break up a home burglary ring.  Officers in the Brainerd area responded to 4619 Montview Drive at approximately 11:44 am after neighbors called in about suspicious activity and a possible burglary in progress.

A witness observed the suspects leaving in a vehicle prior to police arriving and called in a description.

Officers spotted the vehicle in the 3900 block of Rodgers Road where the three parties fled the scene.

Police apprehended two of the suspects, Derrick Carnes, age 27, and Eddie Collins, age 26, after receiving calls from concerned citizens about the suspicious parties running through the area.

Carnes confessed to the burglary at Montview Drive and also one at 122 Shawnee Trail.

He was charged with two counts of Aggravated Burglary, two counts of theft and one count of vandalism.

The stolen property from both residences were recovered.

Possible charges are still pending on the other parties involved.
