The Rooftop Hop, green|spaces’ inaugural benefit event will be held from 6:00-11:30 p.m. Saturday, October 20. The hop will begin with five satellite parties atop the sustainable roofs of various local businesses. Guests are invited to bounce from party to party before heading to the main event on the parking deck of the former Bijou.
“Chattanooga is such a beautiful city and we wanted to do an event that had never been done,” Tina Shaw Cox, Director of Development said in a phone interview. “The rooftop has a very large capacity. You can get a lot of people up there and it comes with parking, which is perfect. Basically the main reason behind choosing The Bijou was that it’s downtown. From the roof you can see seven solar installations, not to mention the fantastic views of our city.”
For $150 guests can enjoy access to all of the rooftop parties including unlimited food and drink. Likewise, through a partnership with Outdoor Chattanooga all-inclusive ticket holders will receive a 24-hour Bike Chattanooga pass.
$45 will get you into the main rooftop party with unlimited food and two drink passes. Appetizers will be provided by St. John’s Restaurant, St. John’s Meeting Place, The Blue Plate, Urban Stack and Taco Mamacita while Easy Bistro and Big River serve up beer and signature cocktails. All of the contributors have been deemed sustainable by green|spaces based not only on the food they serve but their buildings as well.
The night will conclude with two rooftop performances by WTM Blues Band and Space Capone, a contemporary dance band with a foot in retro jazz and R&B. Often misjudged as a novelty act, Space Capone has the uncanny ability to incite the dancing bug across a wide spectrum of generations.
Tickets are currently on sale online, but for last minute attendees, walk-up tickets will be available outside The Bijou parking deck on the day of the event. Proceeds will benefit green|spaces’ future programs. For more information on the event visit www.therooftophop.com.
