Are you ready for the challenge?
Our internship program is focused on developing writing and research skills, with an eye towards teaching how to be a professional writer. Interns are responsible for researching and compiling the music and arts calendars, writing weekly arts and music pieces, writing specialty pieces for our food and beverage issues, as well as other writing assignments as crop up during the semester.
We provide short educational seminars on the various aspects of professional writing (interviewing, copyediting, how to write in various styles, etc.). If interested, we can also offer training on sales, ad design, newspaper layout and editorial management.
What we are looking for are students who have a strong desire to communicate through the written word and are looking to expand their knowledge of professional writing. Each of the written pieces are bylined in the publication, which helps to build a portfolio. The internship is a 10-15 hour a week commitment that runs from May through August.
