Join the community on Saturday, May 7th for the Chattanooga Choo Choo Jubilee. The day is to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the recording of the "Chattanooga Choo Choo" song by Glenn Miller and His Orchestra.
On May 7th, 1941 Glenn Miller and His Orchestra recorded the big band song, "Chattanooga Choo Choo." The tune went on to become the #1 song in the United States on December 7th, 1941 and later, on February 10th, 1942, was certified as the first gold record.
Day's Activities include:
11AM - High School Marching Band parade from Passenger Street to Main Street to Market Street, ending in front of the Choo Choo Hotel.
11:45AM-Noon: Glenn Miller Dedication in front of the Choo Choo Hotel
Noon-3PM: Kids and adult activities alike, including an instrument petting zoo, and live entertainment from dancers and buskers throughout the Choo Choo Gardens.
9PM-12AM: The first-ever Great Gatsy Garden Jubilee, a party featuring the Uptown Big Band to recognize Glenn Miller and the big band era. Admission is free, and a cash bar will be provided. Costumes encouraged!
