Music for Festive Days

Join the Chattanooga Bach Choir and maestro David Long as we perform music for the Ascension and the feast of Pentecost on Sunday May 15, 3:30PM @ the majestic First Cumberland Presbyterian Church on N Moore Road in Chattanooga. The choir and orchestra are joined by guest artists, Chelsea Davidson, Soprano, from Baltimore, MD, Mezzo Soprano Sara Snider Schone from Chattanooga, Stan Warren, Tenor, from Jackson, TN and Baritone Brett Hyberger from Chattanooga. In addition to J. S. Bach’s Ascension Oratorio and his cantata BWV 34 for Pentecost, the choir and orchestra will perform Bach’s Sanctus in C, Mozart’s Veni Sancte Spiritus, two choral pieces by film composer George Fenton from the 1993 movie Shadowlands, which starred Debra Winger and Sir Anthony Hopkins and two German hymns which were sung on Pentecost in Bach’s day.
